If he re-indentured on a plantation, or found other work, and wished to remain in the colony he would be given an ‘Old Immigrants’ ticket as in the example shown here from Mauritius for ’Teeluck’, who came originally from Arrah in north India. Without such a ticket he would not be entitled to a free passage home.
