Schools Art Project on Roots-Seeking and Identity

'Who we are, what we are, where we are'

These are the questions being asked by a group of teenagers at Park View School in Tottenham, London, in response to the Justapositions works of project partner Danny Flynn.  Danny spent three sessions with the students, introducing them to screen printing techniques and talking them through the prints he produced using the 'Becoming Coolies' archive finds.  Then, by exploring their own family histories, and the diasporas represented in their community, the class produced a collection of dynamic personal art pieces.

Haringey Council have been so impressed that they set up FRAME Art Space - a large glass frame set into the wall in a busy burgh street, in which the works of the students, and invited local artists, are being displayed on a month by month rotation.
